What is the difference between liquid penetrant and magnetic particle inspection and what field applications would they be used for?
Apr. 27, 2011
The most obvious difference is that liquid penetrant inspection is most accurate for non-ferrous materials while magnetic particle inspection is the preferred method for ferrous materials. As well, magnetic particle inspection looks for indications that are surface and sub-surface where liquid penetrant, the indications must be open to the surface to be detectable.
